Join us for other actions throughout the week! \nMore Info:\nThe Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (“PVSC”) is proposing to build a new gas plant at their massive wastewater treatment facility in the Ironbound Community. If built\, this would be the fourth dirty gas plant in a community that already suffers from the disproportionate health impacts of these gas plants and dozens of other toxic sites. \nNJ Transit is also seeking to build a new gas plant in the Kearny Meadowlands in the middle of pollution-overburdened communities in East Essex and Hudson Counties. This plant is to provide backup power to trains – a goal that could be met with renewable energy alternatives – and would also run 24/7 to sell power into the grid. \nInstead of pouring a massive amount of public dollars into fossil fuel projects\, both of these public agencies should put their resources into forward-thinking renewable energy alternatives that won’t harm public health.
