It’s a moral imperative for people of faith and spirit to come together to shine a light that cannot be ignored. We are building a constellation of courage for climate justice all across the country. \nWHO\nPeople of all faiths (and no faiths) interested in climate justice\, wanting to take action. \nFrom seasoned activists to first timers – all are invited! Join GreenFaith\, United Church\nof Christ\, Third Act\, Fossil Free Media and others. \nWHAT\nSun Day: Faiths for Climate Justice. \nA weekend of sacred action rooted in justice\, spirit\, and community. Shining our light for climate justice. Some ideas: prayer vigils\, pilgrimages\, sitting meditation\, teach-ins\, parades\, joyful picnics\, solar panel house tours\, hanging a green lantern at your congregation\, municipal building\, or home. \nEach local group designs their own event\, collaborating with the interfaith community\, climate\naction groups or municipal partners. \nWHERE\nNew Jersey communities\, joining a nationwide celebration and mobilization. \nWHEN\n• September 21 is the Solar Equinox – one of 2 days in the year when all the world gets equal amounts of sunlight.\n• Demonstrate strong and undeniable support for clean energy in advance of UN Climate Week in NYC (September 21 – 28)

Scott Sammler-Michael\,\nUnitarian Universalist\nCongregation at Montclair \nRey Chavis\,\nNewark Community Street Team \nJoin us to view The Body Politic (2023)\, an award-winning documentary film highlighting a novel approach to urban violence that appeared on PBS’s POV. Afterwards we’ll talk about the issues it raises with Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair\, who grew up in Baltimore\, and Rey Chavis\, executive director of Newark Community Street Team\, a city-wide violence reduction force established by Mayor Ras Baraka. Donna Ward\, who chairs the board of the League of Women Voters of Montclair\, will do the introductions. \nThe Body Politic is a harbinger of hope in a country plagued by gun violence. In Baltimore\, Brandon Scott\, an idealistic young leader with an ambitious plan to stop chronic violence\, is elected mayor. Throughout his first year in office\, we follow him as he fights powerful political forces to save lives in his city and reveal a pathway toward healing for the nation. \nThe Body Politic is a co-production with ITVS and a co-presentation with BPM (Black Public Media). \nCo-presented by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair\, NCJW of Essex\, The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area\, the League of Women Voters of Livingston\, The League of Women Voters of Teaneck\, the Montclair NAACP\, Dumpling Diplomacy\, and Moms Demand Action.
