SUMMARY:General Assembly 2026 — Meet the Moment: Together Everywhere
DESCRIPTION:General Assembly 2026\, Meet the Moment: Together Everywhere\, will unfold in two parts with a midweek pause. From Sunday\, June 14 to Tuesday\, June16\, delegates will engage in fully virtual General Sessions focused on the business of the Association. Programming resumes Friday\, June 19 through Sunday\, June 21 with worship\, featured speakers\, and Meet the Moment themed programs that can be experienced online\, at the studio site in Louisville\, or in participating local congregations. This flexible model makes GA more accessible\, sustainable\, and connected for UUs everywhere. \nGA 2026 is structured differently from our more in-person General Assemblies. GA 2026 is designed as a primarily virtual experience\, with optional ways to gather through community gatherings\, satellite sites\, and a studio site. This model allows us to focus on shared content that can be experienced together across many locations. \nBecause of this shift\, the Service of the Living Tradition (SoLT) will not be offered as part of GA 2026. This event is deeply rooted in being together in one space\, and we want to honor the full spirit and impact rather than adapt it in ways that might diminish the experience. We look forward to welcoming the Service of the Living Tradition back in 2027\, when the GA format can fully support it. \nWe are exploring new creative possibilities for Synergy Worship as a pre-recorded offering that can be shared more widely and accessed flexibly by participants. As a result\, there will not be a specific Synergy time slot on the General Assembly schedule. Additional details about Synergy for GA 2026 \nGeneral Assembly Satellite Sites \nWays to View the GA Schedule and Program Offerings\n\nSummary Schedule Grid (PDF) – A one-page overview of the entire General Assembly schedule. This document provides a high-level snapshot of key events and time blocks to help you quickly see when major sessions and gatherings are happening.\nGA Schedule Webpage (via Whova) – The most comprehensive and interactive schedule for General Assembly. This webpage\, accessible through the Whova platform\, includes all live programming happening during GA\, with session details\, times\, and locations (for in-person events).\nGA EduCenter Directory (PDF) – The GA EduCenter\, available in the GA app powered by Whova\, offers a range of programs you can engage with throughout General Assembly. Many are on-demand videos you can watch anytime\, and several also include live webinars where you can connect with presenters and other participants in real time.\n\nSunday\, June 14\, 2026\n\nIn-Gathering Service\nEDT: 4:00 – 4:30 pm\nCDT: 3:00 – 3:30 pm\nMDT: 2:00 – 2:30 pm\nPDT: 1:00 – 1:30 pm\nThe 2026 General Assembly will begin with a 30-minute ingathering service\, inviting all participants into sacred community before the first General Session. Through words\, music\, and ritual\, this shared worship time will ground us in the theme Meet the Moment: Together Everywhere and prepare our hearts and spirits for the work ahead.\nGeneral Session I\nEDT: 4:30 – 6:00 pm\nCDT: 3:30 – 5:00 pm\nMDT: 2:30 – 4:00 pm\nPDT: 1:30 – 3:00 pm\nGeneral Sessions\, guided by co-moderators Rev. Kimberly Quinn Johnson and Bill Young\, are where the essential business of the Unitarian Universalist Association unfolds. Open to all via live streaming\, these sessions provide a platform for discussing\, shaping\, and advancing the shared mission and values of the UUA. From voting on key issues to hearing reports from Association leaders\, the General Sessions reflect a spirit of collaborative leadership and commitment to Unitarian Universalist principles. Join us in witnessing and participating in the impactful work that drives our faith forward.\n\nMonday\, June 15\, 2026\n\nGeneral Session II\nEDT: 12:00 – 3:00 pm\nCDT: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm\nMDT: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm\nPDT: 9:00 – 12:00 pm\nCongregational Study/Action Issue Workshop: Imagining Abolition\nEDT: 3:30 – 4:45 pm\nCDT: 2:30 – 3:45 pm\nMDT: 1:30 – 2:45 pm\nPDT: 12:30 – 1:45 pm\nFrom the founding of this country\, coercion and punishment have been used as a way to enforce compliance. This can be seen from parenting\, schooling and the way business is conducted. Our faith calls us to critique the theology of punishment that has become so prominent. This begins when we start to imagine other ways to live that are\, perhaps\, idealistic\, but that hold the seeds of how we move into a loving\, healing\, holistic practice of living in the world.\nGeneral Session III\nEDT: 5:00 – 6:30 pm\nCDT: 4:00 – 5:30 pm\nMDT: 3:00 – 4:30 pm\nPDT: 2:00 – 3:30 pm\nUUA Budget Hearing: Fiscal Year 2026–2027\nEDT: 7:30 – 8:30 pm\nCDT: 6:30 – 7:30 pm\nMDT: 5:30 – 6:30 pm\nPDT: 4:30 – 5:30 pm\nParticipants are invited to join the UUA Budget Hearing for Fiscal Year 2026–2027\, which provides an opportunity to hear about the proposed budget and ask clarifying questions.\n\nTuesday\, June 16\, 2026\n\nGeneral Session IV\nEDT: 12:00 – 3:00 pm\nCDT: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm\nMDT: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm\nPDT: 9:00 – 12:00 pm\nCongregational Study/Action Issue Workshop: Abolition in Practice\nEDT: 3:30 – 4:45 pm\nCDT: 2:30 – 3:45 pm\nMDT: 1:30 – 2:45 pm\nPDT: 12:30 – 1:45 pm\nThis workshop will include a panel of leaders who practice abolition in its many variations. Panelists will discuss abolition as a spiritual practice\, abolition as seen in Minneapolis\, abolition in police and prison settings\, and how abolition intersects with the way we approach environmental justice.\nGeneral Session V\nEDT: 5:00 – 6:30 pm\nCDT: 4:00 – 5:30 pm\nMDT: 3:00 – 4:30 pm\nPDT: 2:00 – 3:30 pm\n\nWednesday\, June 17 – Thursday\, June 18\, 2026\n\nAfter our opening days together\, GA programming will pause on Wednesday and Thursday. This mid-week break gives space for professional organizations\, identity groups\, and affiliates to gather\, or for participants who wish to use the time for their own business and connection. Programming resumes on Friday as we continue our shared journey through GA.\n\nFriday\, June 19\, 2026\n\nSynergy Worship\nEDT: 2:00 – 3:00 pm\nCDT: 1:00 – 2:00 pm\nMDT: 12:00 – 1:00pm\nPDT: 11:00 – 12:00 pm\nSynergy at General Assembly 2026 will be a pre-recorded multigenerational worship video inviting all of us to witness what young people are living\, questioning\, creating\, and discovering in this moment. This special Synergy celebrates the stories\, insight\, and gifts that youth\, emerging adults\, and young adults bring to our shared faith. Created by the Lifespan Faith Engagement Office in collaboration with youth groups and individual contributors\, the video service is built from creative and traditional worship contributions from across our Association.\n(RE)Convening Worship\nEDT: 8:00 – 9:30 pm\nCDT: 7:00 – 8:30 pm\nMDT: 6:00 – 7:30 pm\nPDT: 5:00 – 6:30 pm\nOn Friday evening we will gather in community to begin the weekend of General Assembly worship and programming. This Ingathering service will invite us into sacred space together\, centering our spirits through music\, reflection\, and ritual. Rooted in the theme Meet the Moment: Together Everywhere\, the service will prepare us to move into the weekend with intention\, connection\, and shared purpose.\n\nSaturday\, June 20\, 2026\n\nSaturday Morning Worship\nEDT: 8:30 am –9:15 am\nThis pre-recorded worship service will be live streamed at this time and be available for on-demand viewing thereafter.\nMeet the Moment: Opening Program\nEDT: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm\nCDT: 10:00 – 11:00 am\nMDT: 9:00 – 10:00 am\nPDT: 8:00 – 9:00 am\nWe begin Saturday with a shared virtual experience for all participants. The Opening Program will introduce Meet the Moment as a movement-wide framework that calls Unitarian Universalists to shared analysis-building\, collective discernment\, and faithful action in response to today’s shifting cultural\, generational\, political\, and religious realities. Together we will reflect on the ways our tradition has always been both grounded in core values and open to transformation\, and we will prepare our spirits for the day of learning ahead.\nMeet the Moment: Breakout Groups\nEDT: 1:30 – 4:30 pm\nCDT: 12:30 – 3:30 pm\nMDT: 11:30 am – 2:30 pm\nPDT: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm\nFollowing the Opening Program\, participants will join Wave Cohorts\, with options to participate virtually or locally\, for deeper engagement with the practices of Meet the Moment. There will be several Wave Cohorts in each setting to choose from\, focused on a particular topic that is critical to Unitarian Universalism in this Moment. Each Wave Cohort will guide participants through a Meet the Moment process\, analyzing the Moment we are in\, identifying the needs and opportunities of this Moment\, and using our shared values to identify ways we can Meet the Moment\, together. We will consider what it means to let go of what no longer serves\, embrace new possibilities\, and act with courage and love in changing times.\nFeatured Speaker 1\nEDT: 2:00 – 3:00 pm\nCDT: 1:00 – 2:00 pm\nMDT: 12:00 – 1:00 pm\nPDT: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm\nParticipants are invited to join the first Featured Speaker address of the afternoon.
