SUMMARY:Immigration Justice Monthly Task Force Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Immigration Justice Task Force Meeting on Zoom on Thursday March 6 at 8:00pm will feature a special Guest – Immigration Activist Ravi Ragbir.  Mr. Ragbir is an immigrant rights activist and organizer who serves as the Executive Director of the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York\, where he works directly with those who are facing deportation to empower them in the struggle to remain in the US.  \nFormer President Biden pardoned him in January 2025.  After coming to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago and becoming a legal resident\, he was convicted of wire fraud in 2000.  After completing his prison sentence\, he was ordered deported. Instead of deportation\, he experienced  indefinite detention for years and has been the subject of court cases in order to stay in the United States.  \nWe are excited to have the benefit of hearing Mr. Ragbir and learning of his experiences and his advice at this week’s Task Force meeting.
