The event will be networking focused with a Press Conference at 11 am\, and opportunities to engage with legislators who care about the issue. It’s been 5 years since the NJ Green Amendment has been introduced to the NJ legislature\, and the time for your voices and environmental needs to be heard by your representatives is OVERDUE!\n(Rain location: TBD).

DESCRIPTION:Today’s Supreme Court decision to overturn the precedent of Roe vs. Wade struck like a thunderbolt this morning. Today’s and yesterday’s Supreme Court decisions promoting concealed guns represent a radical turn for the Court – a clear abandonment of judicial precedent and past decisions and embrace of the originalist doctrine. We fully expect a non-favorable decision on West Virginia vs. EPA in the coming days\, which will strike at the core of regulatory protections for the environment and climate action. Regardless of where you stand\, these have been radical and reactionary decisions. \nEmpowerNJ wants to lift up this emergency action being organized by a set of organizations across the state tonight starting at 6 p.m. in South Orange (Spiotta Park)\, New Brunswick (City Hall)\, Red Bank (Riverside Gardens Park) and Cherry Hill (Unitarian Universalist Church). DESCRIPTION:We need your help to make sure that NJ’s new Environmental Justice law is as strong as possible! \nWhat: Virtual info session: Learn how to join the fight for the strongest environmental justice law possible!\nWhen: Thursday 7/7/22\, from 6:30 – 7:30pm\, via Zoom\nRSVP to join: https://cleanwater.salsalabs.org/nj-ej-rulemaking-info-session/index.html \nWhy: For over a decade\, environmental justice leaders\, Clean Water Action\, Ironbound Community Corporation\, and New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance fought to empower and protect people living in overburdened communities from multiple polluting sources in their neighborhoods. On September 18\, 2020\, Governor Phil Murphy signed New Jersey’s Environmental Justice Law which mandates that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) shall deny permits to new and expanding polluting facilities in overburdened communities if it finds that the facility will add an additional burden of pollution to the neighborhood. \nAs with all things\, the devil is in the details. The NJDEP is drafting the rules now that gives them the best tools possible to deny permits for polluting facilities\, as well as setting conditions for permit renewals and expansions. They are planning a series of public hearings and accepting written comments until September 4th. We need advocates and supporters to participate in this process to ensure that all neighborhoods are healthy and free of more polluting facilities. Join us at our webinar to learn how you can help! \nThis Zoom webinar will engage and inform community residents in preparing comments for the upcoming “in person” DEP hearing on 7/11 in Trenton\, and 7/13 in Camden. Additional hearings are scheduled 7/27 in Newark and virtually on 7/28. \n* Save the date!
