September 9th Gala Canceled

It is with deep disappointment that we inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the “Justice for All” Gala scheduled for September 9th at the UU Congregation of Princeton.

If you extended an invitation or purchased a Gala ticket on someone else’s behalf, please share this message with them, as we only have contact information for ticket purchasers.

Individuals in close proximity to the event have tested positive for COVID-19. After careful deliberation and out of an abundance of caution, we decided that proceeding with the Gala tomorrow would be unwise and would negatively impact both the festive tone and important focus of the gathering.

While we did not come to the decision to cancel tomorrow’s Gala lightly, the health and well-being of our supporters, volunteers, staff  and coalition partners come first, and we have faith that we will be able to gather in the not-too-distant future.

If you would like to request a refund for your Gala ticket, please contact Meera Rao at admin@uufaithaction.org.

The Gala Committee will be meeting again to consider the possibility of rescheduling the Gala for a future date. If rescheduled, your current ticket would be honored at the rescheduled Gala.

If you purchased items for our beneficiary organization, The Jewish Center’s Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee, we will share additional information about where to drop off those donations in our forthcoming communication.

We extend our deepest thanks for your support of UU FaithAction NJ and our “Justice for All” Gala. We were excited for the opportunity to be together in-person to celebrate and support the critical work being done by the Immigration Justice Task Force and all of our coalition partners, including the New Jersey Alliance of Immigrant JusticeAmerican Friends Service CommitteeFirst Friends of New Jersey and New YorkThe Jewish Center – Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee (Princeton)Interfaith-RISE (Highland Park), and New Labor.

We would also like to express our gratitude to our planned keynote speaker, Amy Torres, Executive Director of the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, as well as to Louise Sandburg, Chair of the Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee, for all of their hard work on behalf of those seeking a new life in New Jersey.

We acknowledge our gracious host, The UU Congregation at Princeton, for the use of their beautiful facility and the support and hard work of its members and staff in planning the Gala.

In faith, with love, and for justice,

The Gala Planning Committee
