Environmental Justice Task Force Welcomes Mike Skelly, New Chair

UU FaithAction NJ’s Environmental Justice Task Force (EJTF) is pleased to share that Mike Skelly is serving as its new Chair. A long-time member of the Task Force and lead with the group’s work with the NJ Environmental Education Commissions & Student Learning Standards, Mike brings critical expertise from his experiences in his professional career. Mike is a member of the Dorothea Dix UU Community of Bordentown.

We are grateful to Mike for accepting this new role and excited about some of the change that the Environmental Justice Task Force is exploring to deepen relationships with our congregations, our coalition partners, and key legislators. One change includes a new meeting time for the task force, which is now the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm, a time chosen to accommodate a greater number of volunteers. The beginning of a new two-year legislative cycle is also a great opportunity for EJTF to focus its advocacy on issues that resonate with Unitarian Universalist values and principles.

Join us not only in welcoming Mike to his new role, but also in expressing deep gratitude to outgoing chair Peggy Middaugh for her dedicated leadership to the task force. Fortunately for all of us, Peggy will continue working with the task force continuing to lead the Clean Energy and the Forestry action groups. We’re excited to see what’s next for this task force as we continue to collectively pursue our organizational vision of “a just New Jersey free from systemic oppression and greed, full of engaged people committed to each other, to our communities, and to the earth.”
